The
work of our lab has been focused on the neural systems underlying
the expression of defensive behavior. To approach this issue we have
set up unconditioned and conditioned fear paradigms normally used
in animal models of anxiety. By the use of appropriate pharmacological
tools it is the purpose of this laboratory to further investigate
general principles that regulate the processing of sensory information
and the behavioral output during fearful situation as well as the
neurochemical mechanisms underlying the defensive responses associated
with fear and anxiety.
